Propulsion Design Engineer
Location: Kent, Washington
The Propulsion Design Engineer will be part of a team responsible for design and development of fluid systems that meet the requirements of Blue Origin's launch vehicle programs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and test of launch vehicle fluid systems including propellant feed systems, pressurization systems, reaction control systems, etc.
- Development of 3D models, assembly & detail drawings, and interface control documents
- Working knowledge of materials and treatments
- Specification and procurement of components and materials
- Management of subcontractors
- Providing technical guidance for integration and performing testing activities
- Assisting with schedule and cost estimation
- Identifying opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
Qualifications:
Required
This position requires at least a BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and at least 7 years of experience in the detail design of aerospace fluid systems and components. Applicants must be proficient in 3D CAD programs (Pro/Engineer and Pro/Engineer Piping module experience is preferred) and GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard. Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control are important and the candidate must have working knowledge of components such as valves, regulators, bellows and fittings. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, permanent resident, refugee or asylee.
Desired
- Knowledge in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS is preferred).
