Fluid Systems Buyer


DESCRIPTION: As part of the Fluid Systems Group, you’ll be responsible for procurement and material management of associated hardware for launch and space vehicles, and associated ground support equipment. This is a hands-on position in which you'll work directly with suppliers, budgets, schedules, and engineers.
  • Purchasing of flight hardware, against a bill of materials and ad hoc to support vehicle assembly
  • Management of inventory and allocation including hardware test paperwork and certifications
  • Reviewing available inventory against the bill of materials to identify and address hardware shortages
  • Procurement of R&D hardware to support new fluid system design and development
  • Generating and transmitting requests for proposals and purchase orders
  • Negotiating pricing, shipment, delivery dates, and payment terms with suppliers
  • Coordinating with purchasing and inventory management to establish/execute cross-company processes
  • Assisting with supplier selection
  • Traveling as required to supplier locations throughout the US
  • Managing suppliers for on-time delivery, quality, and value 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience purchasing in a technical environment
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and telephonic
  • Comfortable with contract and supplier management
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with a very strong customer focus
  • Self-manage activities with minimum supervision based on given priorities
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of bill of materials and engineering revision/release processes
  • Experience with MS Office products, and project management software (such as MS Project and P6)
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien
  • Familiarity with Nondisclosure Agreements and Federal Acquisition Requirements
  • Experience sourcing aerospace fluidics commodities such as fittings, valves, regulators and related components
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts up to $500K
